**CULINARY CLASSROOM FOUNDATIONS; SETTING THE STAGE FOR SUCCESS IN THE FCS LABS**

 

New to teaching Culinary classes?

Whether you’re stepping into a middle school or high school kitchen, this workshop is packed with practical tips to help you feel confident and ready. We’ll talk through the nuts and bolts of planning and organizing your
classes, stocking up on supplies and groceries, and setting up labs that run smoothly.

You’ll learn how to create clear expectations for your students, teach them how to work safely and efficiently in the kitchen, and stay on top of lab management without losing your mind.

We’ll also dive into how to grade labs, hold students accountable, and build routines that keep things consistent (and you sane!).

This session is all about real-world strategies, shared experiences, and tools you can actually use-so you can start strong and stay on track. We will do a practice lab in class where you will get to try out your new skills and also allow time to adapt the information to fit your own classroom.

Presenter Details

Cara Poole has been teaching Culinary and Baking classes for Maize at 13 years, plus prior six years experience in another district. She is a ServSafe proctor, has completed five levels of ProStart Teacher
Training, and loves to help mentor new teachers.
