HOW TO TEACH STUDENTS CODING THROUGH GAME DESIGN ON ANY DEVICE WITHOUT ANY PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE

 

This workshop will meet VIRTUALLY 8 Tuesdays (4 pm – 5 pm/CST) beginning on Tuesday, August 27 and ending on Tuesday, October 15.

 

WORKSHOP TOPICS TO BE COVERED:

  • Chromebook and Mobile Coding Environments (repl.it)
  • Windows/Mac Coding Environments
  • Introductory JavaScript Syntax
  • Barebones HTML Required to run Phaser
  • 1 – 3 completed Phaser games you can use to teach your own students (depends on time, code and assets for all projects will be provided regardless)
  • Fielding common issues that arise in the classroom
  • Ongoing support throughout the semester is an email away

Presenter Details

Dustin McMurry teaches HTML Game Design at Northeast High School. He holds an MS in Education and completed the Zenva Academy HTML5 Game Development Mini Degree. Additionally, Dustin is active in the Phaser community developing games and published a matching game on the Android Play Store.
