CURRENT ISSUES AND TEACHING METHODS IN INTERIOR DESIGN (Limit 20) – Thursday, Nov. 5 (8:00 am – 12 noon)
Fee = $50.00

  • Presentation of PSU Interior Design program, career options, and recent placements.
  • Group discussion regarding teaching methods and impacts of remote learning.
  • Current trends in specified areas of design (healthcare, office design, residential).
  • Teaching tools, ideas for projects, technology use in interior design.


ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR FUNDAMENTALS (Limit 15) – Thursday, Nov. 5 (8:00 am – 5:00 pm)
Fee = $90.00

  • This workshop will be a presentation of basic Adobe Illustrator methods and techniques. It will be aimed at teachers with beginning or intermediate skills in the software.  Will provide basic skills training, show how to access helpful resources and demonstrate examples of projects that can be used in the classroom and adapted for use with students.


ADOBE XD ESSENTIAL TRAINING  (Limit 20) – Thursday, Nov. 5 (8:00 am – 12 noon)
Fee = $50.00

  • This lab is an essential dive into Adobe XD, an excellent tool for designing and prototyping websites and mobile apps. In this hands-on lab you’ll learn the basics necessary to create and deliver interactive experiences for websites, mobile apps and more.


AMMT/WOOD TECHNOLOGY (Limit 25) – Thursday, Nov. 5 (8:00 am – 12 noon)
Fee = $50.00

  • Reading/Creating Blueprints; Preparing your students for SkillsUSA and Covering Standards for Drafting in your Classroom.
  • Shop Organization; Better Utilize your Shop Space.


INNOVATION IN HEALTH SCIENCE EDUCATION (Limit 25) – Thursday, Nov. 5 (8:00 am – 3:00 pm)
Fee = $75.00

  • This workshop will provide innovative tools and methods for creating engaging, authentic learning experiences for health science students- perfect for new and experienced teachers. Explore project-based learning, creativity in teaching empathy and communication.

    – Nursing as a profession and as a Pitt State Gorilla
    – How does one make the goal to become an RN a reality?
    – How to best prepare for nursing and the application process
    – What it is like to be a nursing student at Pitt State
    – Tour of McPherson Hall Simulation Center – demonstration of one of our human simulators with students in action

LAB AND CLASSROOM SAFETY IN CTE (Limit 30) – Thursday, Nov. 5 (8:00 am – 12 noon)
Fee = $50.00

  • This safety presentation is intended to provide information to teachers allowing them to identify the hazards found in CTE courses which relate to industry. The goal is to use this information to gather resources and create safety lessons which limit liability and reflect the expectations of the workplace, including OSHA guidelines. Key points include:
    • A look at the numbers
    • Types and frequency of accidents
    • Teacher liability
    • Effective Safety Training
    • Resources
    • Software for training
    • Practical examples of interactive safety training


FASHION INDUSTRY STANDARDS & APPAREL BASICS (Limit 25) – Thursday, Nov. 5 (8:00 am – 5:00 pm) & Friday, Nov. 6 (8:00 – 12 noon)
Fee = $120.00

  •  In this workshop there will be discussion on industry specific standards for the garment and apparel industry.  Sewing and overlock machine parts and operation will be taught in a hands-on environment.  Several basic seams and hems will be taught and practiced to create product samples for a reference binder to use in classroom.  Safe work habits and procedures, as well as lab management, will be demonstrated.


BASIC PHOTOGRAPHY INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS (Limit 25)Friday, Nov. 6 (8:00 am – 12 noon)
Fee = $50.00

  • An entire basic photography course suitable for high school or college students will be presented from start to finish. All lesson plans, instructional materials and guidance on how to use them are included in this workshop. All material is Creative Commons licensed, so the material can be used, adapted and remixed to fit the needs of the individual instructor.
